I was named after the main character Akira in the Raideen cartoon series. My brother and sister chose that name.
I have recently graduated from Jamestown Community College. I have completed my A.S. in C.S. by attending through the SUNY Learning Network. The ability to take classes online was the only way I could have gotten this far. I had attended brick and mortar schools before but I guess I just wan't ready then. Even now, I find that the vast majority of what I've learned will not be utilized. I'm sure that there are some small nuggets of value somewhere -- even if I don't see them right now. I was recently accepted into the online computer science program at University of Illinois at Springfield. I'm looking forward to the 300 and 400 level classes though. Even if they're not going to be useful to me at work, programming is a hobby so I'd like to learn more.

I work for L.M.S. Technical Services in Farmingdale, NY as a network engineer. Basically, I was the 12-year-old neighbor that fixed stuff and now I'm 29-years-old and get paid to fix stuff. ;-)
